Eid Al-Fetir Peacefully Celebrated Throughout Ethiopia

Eid Al-Fetir, the end of Moslem fasting month (Ramadan), was celebrated peacefully by the faithful throughout Ethiopia.
Here in the capital, the holiday was colourfully and peacefully celebrated at the Addis Ababa Stadium in the presence of thousands of the faithful.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman of the Addis Ababa Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs Mufti Hadji Oumer said that Islam is a religion of unity, peace and development. Refraining from crime and violence as well as respecting the elderly are among the commandments of the religion.
Mufti Haji urged the Moslem community to celebrate the holiday with respect and unity.
Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Office representative, Hadji Arage Mohammed on his part said that the Moslem community had been disrupted during the Ramadan fasting month by terrorizing releases of violent forces such as the Coalition for Unity and Democracy (CUD).
Moreover, Hadji Arage said the violent forces have disrupted the good spirit of the Moslem particularly on the eve of the holiday.
The violence and destruction declared by the CUD during the Ramadan month has no legal and spiritual ground, Hadji Arage said, adding that it clearly reflects CUD's disrespect for the Moslem community.
He urged the government to discharge its responsibility to prevent such anti-peace, anti-democratic and anti-development moves in the future.
The Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Office appreciates the power distribution made based on the third national election conducted in a democratic manner, Hadji Arage said.
Meanwhile, the Oromia police say the festival marking the end of Ramadan Eid Al-Fetir was celebrated peacefully in all zones and woredas in the State.
No security problems faced throughout the State during the mass prayers, the Oromia Information and Public Relations Bureau told ENA yesterday quoting the State's police.
The Oromia police said the reports that came from the zones indicate that the faithful are celebrating the holiday in peace.
The State police said no security problems posed in Oromia areas adjacent to Addis Ababa, nor in other parts of the Oromia State.
The State police have made massive preparation to prevent any violence and riot in the State.
The State police are on alert in all directions in order to enable the public continue normal life unperturbed.
It also urged the public to remain cooperative as usual to maintain peace in their respective localities.
