It is reported that the US Embassy hosted this meeting, and Somali delegates are from Mogadishu, Kismayo.

Reports from Nairobi indicate that the Somali delegates are included two Somali MPs in the transitional federal parliament of Somalia, General Mohamed Nur Galaal a well-known general in the former Somali Army, Businessman Sa’ed Nur Gariishe and the Chairman of the local council of Mogadishu, Mr. Mohamuud Tootow.

Sources in Nairobi confirmed to Shabelle Media Network the existence of the meeting and it is aimed at terrorist suspects in Somalia and the US involvement in the recent clashes in Mogadishu between the newly declared counter terrorism alliance and the joint Islamic courts militias.

The meeting was due to conclude this afternoon.

The US Government suspects that terrorist groups are getting a haven in the lawless country of Somalia especially the big sprawled city Mogadishu.

Some members of the delegates, who met today with the US officials in Nairobi were involved in founding the Islamic Sharia’ courts in Mogadishu which draws support from clan basis.
