Be wary of enemies, Moi tells Kanu

By Biketi Kikechi
Former President Daniel arap Moi on Friday evening urged Kanu supporters to be wary of the party’s detractors.
Moi said he would not sit back and watch Kanu disintegrate or taken over by another party. Speaking in North Horr, the former President urged the party to guard against predators.
"You will be hearing many voices but you should differentiate a cow’s cry from a donkey’s," said Moi.
Moi, who was on the last day of his tour of Marsabit and Moyale districts, whose agenda included peace building, consoling bereaved families and politics joined Rendile, Gabra and Borana elders for lunch on Friday afternoon.
Speaking in Kiswahili, Moi said, "wengine wao wanajaribu kumeza Kanu na sauti hiyo ikija hapa muwe macho (be on the lookout because some of them want to swallow Kanu)."
He then asked them to support Mrs Sarah Godana, widow of Bonaya Godana, for the North Horr seat. The former President had earlier held closed-door meetings with the Gabra, Burji, Borana and Rendile elders.
He later announced that the elders had resolved to support aspirants from families of MPs, who died in the Marsabit air crash, in the forthcoming by-elections. Those he gave time to address the rallies included Hussein Tari, brother of Abdi Tari Sasura.
In Sololo, on the Kenya-Ethiopia border, Moi drummed up support for Wario Galgalo, brother of Dr Guracha Galgalo.
Earlier, when he visited Laisamis, he urged the people to support Sarah Ngoyoni, the widow of former MP Titus Ngoyoni. Moi received a hysterical reception at all his stops and got an assurance from excited elders and youth that they will go by his wishes.
Former Mombasa Mayor Taib Ali Taib assured Moi of his support. Moi said Kanu members should work hard to ensure that the party rules the country again.
