Sana'a Forum urges SC lifts arms ban on Somalia

The meeting of foreign ministers of the Sana'a Forum for Cooperation countries held in Sana'a called upon the Security Council to lift the bans of exporting weapons to Somalia.Foreign ministers said in their urgent request that the interim Somali government, IGAD and the African Union need the weapons to be able to keep peace and stability in Somalia territories.The final statement also called other countries of the southern Red Sea and the African Horn to join the forum. According to the statement, Sana'a will be the location of the Permanent Secretariat and Yemen will head the secretariat that will include representatives of all member states.The statement also asked the Economic Committee to finalize the agreement of establishing a joint free trade market, confirming that the member states will keep adhering democracy, human rights, fighting terror and maintaining peace and security in the region.
