Oromo Liberation Army prevail in defending the planned joint attack

OLA Shall Prevail in Defending the Planed Joint Attack

Editorial Statement of OLF

December 2, 2007 (OLF) - On November 14, 2007 the Kenyan Daily Nation newsletter reported that the Kenyan government and the minority Woyane-Tigray government have agreed to launch what they called “a joint search operation” on the Southern Command of the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) at a meeting they held in a Moyale district of Hiddi lola town. In an apparent beginning of the so called “search operation”, on November 30, 2007 Reuters reported that the Kenyan Police had arrested 21 Oromo nationals, nine of which are of Kenyan origin accusing them of supporting OLA, and that two of the accused Oromos have already been deported to Ethiopia. It is our belief that the remaining detained Oromos will also likely be handed to the fascist Woyane regime by the Kenyan officials.

Our inside sources reported that the motto of this “joint operation” is to “eliminate or at least weaken” the Southern Oromia Command of OLA. It is also reported that, on the reported meeting, while the Kenyan government complained of not having beget for the operation, the minority Woyane regime agreed to cover all financial and logistic expenses. Our sources added that an army of four brigades is planned for this deplorable “operation” out of which the Kenyan government agreed to contribute one brigade while the remaining three brigades will be presented by the Woyane regime.

It is not the first time that the Kenyan government and the TPLF/EPRDF regime have launched such a futile joint attack on the Southern Command of OLA. The gallant OLA fighters have foiled all of the previous massive “joint operations”, for example in June 1999, June 2004, and August 2006. No doubt, the current TPLF-Kenyan joint military operation on OLA will also be a failure. Supported by the Oromo masses, the OLA fighters will continue their fight for the alienable right of the Oromo nation in particular and for democracy, human rights, and justice in Ethiopia in general.

The Woyane regime is said to have planned the “search operation” at this time for two reasons: 1) to pursue OLA before the local election, expected to take place in Ethiopia in December, 2007, and 2) to weaken or eliminate OLA from all parts of Oromia before launching another round of devastating war with Eritrea. It is known that the program and the necessary military and intelligence structures for the said operation are already in place.

On the other hand, a conflict is reported between the Woyane officials who planned the search operation on OLA and the local militias who are told to carry the said operation. Our sources reported that the local militias who were forcefully conscripted for this duty are telling the Woyane officials that they do not have the interest, moral or capability of fighting with OLA. However, the TPLF officials are reported to be forcing the local militias by telling them that they will be sent to the north to fight with Eritrea if they refuse to search and fight OLA Southern Command.

The gallant Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) Southern Command and all OLA command fighters are instructed to foil this desperate attempt of the fascistic TPLF/EPRDF regime.

As we repeatedly reiterated, it is disturbing that the Kenyan government is becoming an instrument for this fascistic minority government of Meles Zenawi in harassing innocent Oromos of Kenyan origin and other Oromos who came to Kenya to seek protection. It is strategically a grave political mistake and a misguided foreign policy for the Kenyan authorities to opt for the enmity of the great Oromo Nation in order to please a minority dictatorial regime of Meles Zenawi whose days will end sooner or later and who has developed a chronic hatred not only from the Oromo people but also from the entire peoples of Ethiopia.

Once again OLF would like to repeat its call for the Oromo people and other oppressed peoples of Ethiopia to unite in intensifying their struggle against the TPLF/EPRDF regime which is the source of all troubles in the region.

Victory to the Oromo people!
