Harare - Zimbabwe said on Wednesday Mengistu Haile Mariam would remain a guest of the country despite the former Ethiopian leader being found guilty in absentia of genocide.
"Mengistu applied for asylum and we granted him (it) ... the position remains the same," Paul Mangwana, the government's acting information and publicity minister, told Reuters. Mengistu has lived in exile in Zimbabwe since being ousted in 1991.
